Chalk mural initiative
At the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic I spent a lot of time drawing outdoors in Providence parks. Many people had begun creative projects to cope; my outlet became sidewalk chalk. In these ephemeral murals I drew text from the Bible, stars, and plant patterns, leading with the theme of sorrow mixed with joy. Drawing in the parks helped me to process grief in the company of the public.
